Vision Assistive Technology
Occupational therapists, optometrists and service coordinators can apply to be vision assistive technology assessors.
The Vision Assistive Technology (VAT) category covers the following:
Equipment to support the needs of a person who is blind, deafblind or who has a vision impairment.
For example:
monoculars and magnifier
specialised computer hardware and software
braillers.
Who is eligible?
The following health professionals can apply for accreditation:
Occupational Therapist employed in a Low Vision Clinic
optometrist
service coordinator with a specialist service provider.
What are the accreditation requirements?
You will need to:
have your application verified by your employer/supervisor.
When does this accreditation expire?
There is no expiry date for this category and no ongoing requirements. But you must keep up to date with Disability Support Services accreditation changes
