Enable New Zealand Experience Advisory Group

Support Enable New Zealand leaders and our teams by providing a disabled persons perspective to our services.


Enable New Zealand is committed to accessibility and inclusion, to put that into action, we’re looking for independent advisors to share ideas on how we can make big improvements for our disability community.

Each quarter (every three months), our XAG will meet for four hours with our Chief Experience and Engagement Officer to test thinking and ways of working for Enable New Zealand.

What will I be doing?

You’ll get the opportunity to input into how we deliver services, test ideas from the perspective of disabled persons and their whānau, advocate for system-level improvements, and ensure accessibility and inclusion across everything Enable New Zealand does.

  1. Customer Perspective: You’ll bring lived experience, with an understanding and empathy of what our customers face when dealing with service providers. You’ll be an important advocates for our community. 

  1. Challenging: You’ll be free to debate the status-quo of Enable New Zealand, and to challenge our current and future direction. 

  1. Influence and Informing: XAG members will not act as ambassadors or connectors, instead you’ll be a critical advisor to inform our future thinking. 

Do I get paid?

Absolutely. You’re offering your expert view and experience. Members will be paid attendance fees are paid on a per meeting basis ($840 + GST per meeting attended).

There will also be a member who’ll be appointed as the group chairperson. The Chairperson will also be paid on a per meeting basis ($1,000 + GST per meeting attended). 

If required, any travel will be organised and paid for by Enable New Zealand. (Actual and reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.)

How do I apply to be on the XAG?

Simply submit your interest to Enable New Zealand in this form.
All information provided will be treated confidentially.

There will be between five to seven members at all times. The representative group will be made up of a variety of lived experiences to ensure a strong diversity of views and insights.

Please apply before 11.59pm 21 September 2025. We’ll contact all applications by 5pm Friday 26 September at the latest.

What happens after I apply?

All applicants will be fairly reviewed and short-listed. We’ll contact you if you’re not successful and if you are selected for the short list, you’ll be invited to a short online interview. The questions for the interview will be provided in advance. Please note that we are happy to make accommodations for the interviews.

After the interviews we’ll endeavour to notify all applicants of our decision within 72 hours.
