EMS Equipment List now a searchable online catalogue
The Equipment and Modification Services (EMS) Equipment List is now a searchable online catalogue. This makes it easier than ever for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other assessors to find the right equipment for their clients funded through Disability Support Services (DSS).
This online list is more accessible and updated more regularly than the previous PDF version. You can now:
Access on any smartphone, tablet, or computer
Search and filter the catalogue to quickly find items
Browse by different sections (instead of scanning the entire document)
Still choose to download the full list as a PDF
Explaining the EMS Equipment List
The EMS Equipment List is a catalogue of commonly funded equipment used to support disabled people. It helps assessors choose equipment that is:
Commonly used and easy to source
Repairable by local specialists
Good quality, so it can be refurbished and reused
The list also includes practical details to help with decisions and ordering, such as:
Supplier information and specifications
Price bands and ordering codes
Options and accessories
Accreditations needed to order
Designed for assessors
This change came from assessor feedback, and our operations team looking for ways to make the list easier and faster for assessors to use.
“Our aim was to bring the list onto our website and create several different ways to find what you’re looking for, resulting in a better user experience,” says Jane Wenman, Chief Operations Officer. “This online list is also faster and easier for our team to quickly update, so assessors can get the most up-to-date information possible.”
The online list was designed with assessors in mind to ensure it’s easy to use, clear to read, and provides the right amount of detail.
Supporting better outcomes
Moving the EMS Equipment List online supports a ‘list first’ approach for disability support. This helps funding go further and delivering better outcomes for our community. It’s part of our continuous improvement work, where Enable New Zealand continues to partner with DSS to improve tools and processes.
“I want to thank everyone involved in bringing this work to life, especially the assessors across the country who have given us feedback and made the online list as useful as possible.”
