Supporting independence though our subcontractor network

Enable New Zealand works with a nationwide network of subcontractors. Every month, this network helps thousands of people by maintaining and repairing disability and recovery equipment so it stays safe, reliable, and ready to use.

Their work ranges from simple fixes—like replacing a walker wheel—to specialist servicing of complex equipment such as hoists. These timely repairs make everyday life possible: getting out the door, moving around the home, and staying active in the community.

The authorised technicians on the Enable New Zealand list have gone through a comprehensive procurement process to meet our quality standards. This protects our disability and recovery community, ensuring New Zealanders can rely on timely and effective repairs and servicing. We keep an up‑to‑date public list of approved service agents, this makes it easy for people with Enable NZ-supplied equipment to find the right person to support them in their area.

A new lead for subcontractor support

To strengthen how we support this network, Anita Reti has stepped into the role of Subcontractor Liaison Team Leader. Anita’s focus is practical: clearer communication, faster problem‑solving, and more hands‑on help for subcontractors to empower a consistent and high standard of local services. Her appointment builds on recent work at Enable NZ to modernise our subcontractor model and lift consistency across the country.

“Every repair matters, because it impacts someone’s independence,” says Anita. “We are committed to helping our subcontractors get what they need—quick answers, clear processes, and practical support—so they can keep equipment safe and working.”

What does this mean in practice?

“Better onboarding and guidance, clearer processes, and a single point of contact who can unblock issues quickly. For our disability community, it means safer, faster, more consistent repairs.”

Change in Gisborne: Mobility Gisborne joins the network

We regularly review our local area coverage, adapting available services to meet demand, and bringing on local providers where they can improve service.

The most recent change is in Gisborne, where Mobility Gisborne has taken over service delivery from Eastland Auto Electrical, effective 1 September 2025. This transition followed a competitive procurement process and reflects Enable’s focus on maintaining high service standards and prompt service.

“We’re grateful to Eastland Auto Electrical for their contribution and support for clients and assessors, and we welcome Mobility Gisborne to the network.” says Anita.

What this means for assessors and clients in Gisborne:

  • All current and future jobs will continue without interruption - you don’t need to do anything.

  • Jobs that were booked before 1 September 2025 will be completed by Eastland Auto Electrical.

  • Jobs that are booked from 1 September 2025 will be managed by Mobility Gisborne.

Assessors or customers in Gisborne who need a repair should view Enable NZ’s list of equipment service agents to connect with the right team. The page lists current, approved contacts by location.

Our priorities

“Behind every repair is a person who depends on their equipment to live safely and independently. That’s why we take a structured, consistent approach to managing our subcontractor network.”

“By setting clear standards, supporting local providers, and reviewing coverage regularly, we make sure repairs are done right, on time, and with the client’s wellbeing at the centre.”

Here’s how the team and network make that happen:

Safety first: Authorised technicians follow clear standards and have access to equipment histories and warranty information, reducing risk and repeat visits.

Speed and reliability: Local subcontractors can respond quickly and coordinate directly with Enable to get repairs approved and completed.

National consistency, local care: A single framework with local delivery means people get consistent service quality wherever they live.

Looking ahead

Enable New Zealand’s subcontractor network is more than a logistical necessity—it’s a lifeline for thousands of people.

“With our new leadership and ongoing improvements to the subcontractor model, we’re well-positioned to continue enabling everyday lives across Aotearoa. Thank you to all the amazing contractors out there everyday, making it happen for our community.”
